Midway attraction reopens

From down south in Midway comes word that the town's wetlands interpretative center is now open seven days weekly.
The park, just off U.S. Highway 84 features a scenic boardwalk -- now fully handicap accessible -- along with a dock and an observation tower.
The center opens at 9 a.m. and closes at dusk. An official grand opening is planned for July 28.

General gets new assignment

A former top Fort Stewart officer, Lt. Gen. Lloyd Austin III, has been named to head the Joint Staff at the Pentagon. He is currently the commanding general, XVIII Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg, N.C.
