Sustainativity, Inc. announces new 'Mattress Dash' fundraiser to benefit the green retrofit of Historic Savannah Foundation’s offices.
On Sunday, September 28th, the inaugural Mattress Dash will come to Savannah on the south end of Forsyth Park.
Costumed teams of five will race mattresses at a 150-meter dash for awards and prizes. In order to participate teams must build a racing frame capable of holding a single mattress and one rider, while being pushed by the other four team members.

Prizes and awards will be handed out in the categories for Fastest Team, Greenest Racing Frame, Judge's Choice, and People's Choice. So, get to building!

The City of Savannah invites the public to attend the grand opening of the redevelopment of Savannah's first public marina on Coffee Bluff.
The Coffee Bluff Marina Ribbon Cutting and Dedication Ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, August 8, at 14915 Coffee Bluff Road.
Citizens can enjoy hot dogs and refreshments while touring the upgraded facilities with City officials including Mayor Edna Branch Jackson, 6th District Alderman Tony Thomas, and other members of City Council.

Blowin' Smoke, in partnership with Red Hare Brewing Company, will host a celebration for National IPA Day on August 7.
The event, a showcase of Red Hare's Gangway IPA, will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The restaurant will offer IPA-infused cocktails and food specials including the brew, as well as the beer itself.
There is no admission fee for the event, but food and drinks are available for purchase within the restaurant.
Red Hare's area representative will be on hand giving away prizes and offering an extensive knowledge of craft beer. The family-friendly event will also offer a cornhole tournament.

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are investigating a shooting that fatally injured Ivory Carter, 51, on Wednesday night.
Officers found Carter near Hampstead Avenue and Rogerwood Street when they responded to a shooting call about 10 p.m. Carter was transported to Memorial University Medical Center where he passed away.

Edwin Fripp, who was charged with aggravated assault, armed robbery and criminal attempt at murder by Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police last week, was arrested by officers with the U.S. Marshal's Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force today.
Fripp was arrested at Chatham Parkway and Park of Commerce Drive.

Tuesday, August 5th from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Armstrong State University is holding a '
Start Strong, Start Now' registration event.
The university will be waiving the application fee at a one-day-only registration event where prospective students will be able to get admitted and register for fall classes all in one day.
