A Tribute to Etta James Starring: Marlena Smalls with The Sweetgrass Angels

When: Fri., Oct. 14, 7:15 p.m. and Sat., Oct. 15, 7:15 p.m. 2016

The Center for the Arts will host a musical tribute to Etta James performed by world renowned singer, entertainer, educator and actress. Dr. Marlena Smalls, backed up by the Sweetgrass Angels (Penney Smith, Velma Polk, Elaine Lake) and the Lowcountry Jazz Band. The Sweetgrass Angels are known for their classic three part harmonies on songs from the 40′s to today. They cover many genres, from beach music, shag, country, gospel, to disco which they are able to do this due to their lengthy musical resumes. The tribute will include 14 of Etta James songs.
