Abstraction in Representational Painting

Designed for both beginners and experienced artists, this course will cover the fundamentals of abstraction and its application in the development of style and expression in representational painting. Explore line, shape, color, texture, and composition using a variety of media. The class will approach abstraction from specific “points of entry”: gestural abstraction, texture and collage, music, language, and visual studies of established abstract artists.
