After Semiquincentennial and Juneteenth ceremonies, how might we, like abolitionists, choose the most imaginative, and courageous paths to genuine liberation and justice? Both David Walker and Fredrick Douglas sought unadjusted and unapproved alternatives: militant-knowledge and 5th of July protest. Their choices automatically challenged hypocrises served to a public otherwise hungry for gratification, patriotism & escape.
