Engage spirited dialogue and integrrogation. How are we transposed as powerful trauma/slavery-repellant agents—now? After Semiquincentennial and Juneteenth ceremonies, how might we, like abolitionists, choose the most imaginative, and courageous paths to genuine liberation and justice? Both David Walker and Fredrick Douglas sought unadjusted and unapproved alternatives: militant-knowledge and 5th of July protest. Their choices automatically challenged hypocrises served to a public otherwise hungry for gratification, patriotism & escape. Walker’s Appeal and Douglas’ 4th of July lament expose baseless promises of the Declaration, not through holiday events, but, through organized & focused— education & agency. Join us in continuation.
