Arthouse Cinema: The Boy and the Heron

Hayao Miyazaki's first feature film in 10 years, is centered around a young boy named Mahito. Yearning for his late mother, Mahito ventures into a world shared by the living and the dead. There, death comes to an end and life finds a new beginning. Written and directed by the Academy Award-winning filmmaker, this hand-drawn, semi-autobiographical fantasy about life, death, and creation could only come from the mind of Miyazaki. This screening is part of the Studio Ghibli series celebrating the studio's remarkable animated films. The film is presented in the English-dubbed version.
