“Celestial Knowledge” Virtual/In-Person Workshop with the Savannah African Art Museum

Savannah African Art Museum is holding a virtual/ in person workshop the week of November 23rd. In this workshop, you will make our own Constellation Viewer and/or download a sky guide app to view the night sky. We will discuss the necessary role celestial knowledge played/plays in the lives of Africans… from charting seasons to regulating agricultural cycles and ritual calendars. Celestial bodies were used to coordinate both work and social activities; they played and continue to play roles in divination, spatial design, and decision-making. The on-site workshop date is Saturday, November 28th.
