Dorchester Academy: A Legacy of Liberty Film Screening

This award-winning documentary, produced and directed by Kay Flowers Johnson and executive produced by Brynn Grant, chronicles the remarkable history of Dorchester Academy in Midway, Georgia. The Academy served as a pivotal training ground for leaders of the American Civil Rights Movement, including work by the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) under Andrew Young, visits from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the extraordinary contributions of Septima Clark and Dorothy Cotton. The film is approximately 40 minutes long and will be followed by a brief discussion exploring the Academy’s legacy and its lessons for today.
