Come over an “Jain de band”, Drumfolk with us: the ancestral legacy and liberation music-culture of the region. Participate in genuinely rooted knowledge of the low country and coasts. Drumfolk is the drum, percussion, movement and vocal tradition which changed the course of American history and music: Stomp dancing, Ring Shout, picnic band, pushin + dancin, Juba… Drumfolk opens a world of a little known or often suppressed eco-cultural legacy. Taught by Savannah born and Sapelo (McIntosh Co.) raised master percussionist Dr. David Pleasant, 40+ years as performer, choreographer, writer, composer and consultant (TV, film, theater and institutions).
