Drumfolk Event w/ Riddimic Rescue and Step Afrika

This unique Drumfolk event is part of a 15-year collaboration between percussionist/composer David Pleasant and STEP AFRIKA! tracing the development of African and Early African American music and movement through the Drumfolk Legacy of the Georgia and South Carolina Low Country. The evening will include a structured workshop-lecture-performance demonstration, master class featuring special guest artist Jakari Sherman from STEP AFRIKA!, and a Drumfolk ensemble open rehearsal, audition, and community jam. There will also be a celebration of regional flavor and cuisine from local Gullah-Geechee chefs. The event is free and open to the public. Donations would be greatly appreciated.
