Zara Bell’s work explores relationships: between figure and ground, thought and action, the narrative generated by the interaction of forms and bodies, and where the viewers’ associations meet the artist’s decisions. Bell sourced her images (as well as this show’s title) from books that have been around a long time because she is interested in what they might reveal about her contemporary culture and the lineage of her beliefs.
