Forty Acres and a Mule Film and Presentation

"Forty Acres and a Mule" is a docudrama about the meeting of 20 African-American church leaders with Secretary of War Edwin Stanton and General William T. Sherman in Savannah in January 1865 to discuss the future of the 4 million freedmen in the post-Civil War South. Out of this meeting came the idea of providing freedmen families with 40 acres and a mule. After showing the film, its director and producer will lead the audience in a discussion of the event and what impact it may have on our lives today.
