In 2017, Telfair Museums acquired a portrait of Richard Wylly Habersham and his family. Habersham was a member of a wealthy and influential family in Savannah, and he served as U.S. Attorney for the District of Georgia from 1819 to 1827. The portrait was badly in need of conservation, and after a great deal of work it is now ready to be unveiled to the public. This unveiling is free and open to the public and will be followed by a lecture from Jonathan Bryant, a Professor of History at Georgia Southern University. Bryant will discuss the remarkable career of Habersham as well as his family members depicted in this portrait.
