"In the Shadows", Exploring the Art of the Silhouette throughs Works in the Telfair Museum

Anne-Solene Bayan, Assistant Curator, will introduce the exhibiton of silhouettes called "In the Shadows". Silhouettes were popular in Europe and the United States in the 19th century as a means of rapidly capturing a likeness. As artists have frequently turned to using the silhouette in new ways, she will trace themes found while selecting the works. She will introduce recent Telfair Museum acquisitions, a 'Porgy and Bess' libretto and lithographs by Karen Walker, inspired by Gershin's opera. Members and guests are welcome to attend.
