Insides

As a stop motion fabricator Zoe Huddleston is fascinated by the textural world of fiber arts. In the Drive Thru Art Box installation Insides, she has filled the box with anatomical, brain-like forms constructed from wool roving and crocheted yarn. This installation manifests a playful representation of anatomical forms that is bright and arbitrary in color, as well as embedded with man-made objects that bring a hint of personal identity to the piece. The piece is the artist’s metaphorical insides, splayed out for the viewer. Dancing along the line of grotesque gore and cute felt, the choice in materials aims to create a dichotomy between the unsettling aspects of organs outside of the body, and the intrinsically soft, approachable aspects of wool and yarn.
