Liu Jiakun: West Village

In his multidisciplinary work, architect/artist/writer Lia Jiakun contextualizes local building traditions, social needs and ever-changing ecological environments. His practice ranges from the production of composite building materials to the design of monuments, public spaces and urban systems. "West Village" features a small-scale model of an extensive multipurpose complex realized by Jiakun in Chengdu, China, that revitalizes a full city block as a cohesive, sustainable and collaborative environs integrating multiple functions of public life.
