Proceeds Benefit Local Purple Heart Veteran Ryan Davis
When: Sat., May 14, 7:30-9 p.m. 2022
Sixty-voice choir and 42-piece orchestra perform Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem (Grant Us Peace). Proceeds benefit local Purple Heart Veteran Ryan Davis and his wife and son. While deployed to Afghanistan in August 2019, Ryan was severely wounded in an explosion. He underwent 28 life-saving surgeries, leaving him as a triple amputee. Ryan and his family have (and will) suffered unimaginable difficulties.
The concert is a monumental piece of music by Ralph Vaughan Williams about the horrors of war and a call for peace. Similar to Beethoven’s Ninth, the music begins in darkness and rises to light.
