Join Mallory Mintz, a master’s student at UGA Skidaway Institute of Oceanography, as she discusses her research on harmful algal bloom (HAB) species in the Skidaway River Estuary. Her project aims to measure the densities of HAB species over a two-year period, establish their seasonal timing, and explore their relationship with water quality parameters in the estuary.
Mintz will be joined by long-time Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant volunteer, Sandy Hager, who will talk about the Phytoplankton Monitoring Network and her experience as a citizen scientist monitoring phytoplankton. Registration is required and includes admission to the UGA Aquarium.
