The Artist as Muse

In "The Artist as Muse," SCAD undergraduate and graduate students, alumni and other contemporary artists take on the timeless subject of the self-portrait. The works on view go beyond representations of the artist's likeness, using the artist-self as a starting point to interrogate notions of ego, identity, family, politics, labor and technology. Through video testimonials, photo montage, caricature, textiles and myriad other mediums, these artists probe the question of what defines self-portraiture within the limitless domain of contemporary art.
