The Blue Dogs formed in Charleston, South Carolina in 1987 and have been a force to be reckoned with on the live music scene ever since. Now's your chance to see them for yourselves in the comfort of Randy's Old Time Pickin' Parlor!
Best known their genre-bending American roots sound and interactive performances, this powerhouse band just might be their home state’s most treasured musical export, having performed in countless regional and national venues and on stages with such well-known and diverse artists as Willie Nelson, Widespread Panic, Bruce Hornsby, Hootie and the Blowfish and many more. On top of that, they received national exposure by singing the national anthem on NBC at the final Southern 500 NASCAR race in Darlington, SC in 2004, and as the house band on a week’s worth of Wheel of Fortune shows in 2007.
These days The Blue Dogs continue to perform more than 100 shows a year, from clubs, festivals, and colleges to corporate events, private parties and fundraisers, drawing big crowds wherever they play. With their unique blend of musical styles and engaging live performances, they continue to maintain a thriving international fan base, and have a large library of recordings available through iTunes, Spotify and other music portals.
This will certainly be a different type of show at The Pickin’ Parlor and we hope you'll come welcome these seasoned performers to our stage. And be sure to bring your friends and family!
“Bluegrass worthy of being blasted out of the windows of a Plymouth Barracuda with 451 Hemi engine, the Blue Dogs boast a personal history that has endeared themselves to the nascent “alt-country” scene with a whiz-bang melding of roots-rock rumble, bluegrass chicanary, and honky-tonk reverence.”
