Theater, Performativity and Peril: Propaganda by Proliferation and/or Weaponized Absence

Join us for a panel on Black theater with specific focus on Savannah. Despite the city’s demographic Black majority, there is a consistent lack of diverse Black theatrical or performance options. Consistent with that lack is the promotion of state-approved material which overshadows other relevant and challenging thematic content. Black radical tradition options are missing-in-action. This flaw includes the exclusion of interdisciplinary works which explore non-touristic or non-entertainment protocols/boundaries. We are seeking in-person or remote panelists who can offer helpful dialogue on the subject, and possibly contribute to needed transformation. We welcome your response and participation.
