Joanna Angell’s body of work entitled, “Touched” is in response to the perception that physical artmaking is a dead process in light of our digital revolution. Intended to refer to the artist’s studio art practice steeped in materiality and physical art making, the exhibition feature works in ceramic sculpture, prints, and mixed media on paper. The word “touched” refers to Angell’s grounding in material relationships and the natural world. The
word can also refer to physical relationships, mental peculiarity, and tactile sensation.
