In this four day, sixteen hour workshop students will learn all about Scratchboard art. Scratchboard consists of a color layer that is usually white, that is then covered with a thin layer of ink. When the ink is etched or scratched away from the scratchboard the color underneath shows through. We will be working in reverse by scratching away the ink to capture lighter values instead of shadows. We will learn how to create our own scratchboards as well as etching techniques to help us achieve various textures and values.
