Detectives are investigating a shooting that injured a man, Monday evening.
Just after 5 p.m., Metro responded to the 100 block of Scarborough Street to find Jackie Heath, 22, suffering from a gunshot wound on the porch of a residence. Heath was subsequently transported to Memorial University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Originally, Heath reported that a red Crown Victoria with three unknown passengers were involved in the shooting. Upon further investigation of the incident, detectives determined the gunshot wound was self-inflicted. Investigators believe it was accidental.
Additionally, investigators recovered the weapon used in the shooting and found it to be stolen from another county. Charges for Heath are pending.
