Murder suspect to be tried as adult in death of 15—year-old
SCMPD has released the name of the suspect charged with murder in the shooting death of 15-year-old George Akins Jr. at a Southside McDonald's over the weekend.
The arrestee's name is Jeffery Burton, who is 16 years old.
Police say he will be tried as an adult.
Akins was shot along with a fellow Windsor Forest football player, also 15, at the McDonald's near Savannah Mall.
