At 8 a.m. Tuesday morning, the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force of the U.S. Marshals Service arrested cutting suspect, Elaine Denise Mercer, 30, on an outstanding warrant by Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police.
"Mercer was arrested on the 200 block of West 31st Street for a cutting on March 18. Investigators believe Mercer is the suspect who cut a woman during a fight at a residence on the 1100 block of West 42st Street," police say.
Mercer is charged with aggravated assault.

Early Tuesday afternoon March 31, Chatham Narcotics Team supported by the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Departments West Chatham Crime Suppression Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence in the Georgetown area.
"CNT recovered various prescription pills, six firearms and a large amount of ammunition. CNT also recovered more than $6,200 in cash. One person was arrested at the time of the search warrant and was determined to be a convicted felon," CNT says.
CNT began its investigation into the residence in early March. "During the course of the investigation, undercover CNT agents purchased various types of prescription pills and discovered firearms were being stored at the residence," they say.
The name of the person arrested and exact location of the residence is not being released at this time because the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.

Animal Control officers from the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department "are trying to locate the owner of a dog that was found tied with a leash in a wooded area over the weekend," a police spokesperson says.
Besides being dehydrated and emaciated, the male Staffordshire Terrier mix "is suffering from neoplasia and lymphoma, possible chronic heart failure, a hip ailme nt and intestinal parasites. A photograph of him leashed to a pine tree in a wooded area has been making the rounds on Facebook," police say.
But the 6- to 10-year-old dog named Jacob by the Animal Control Center staff is “super friendly” to strangers and has a microchip, indicating that someone cared for him at one time.
"Unfortunately, the microchip was never registered so officers are finding difficulty in determining the previous owner," police say.
Jacob is being treated by staff veterinarians during the required five-day waiting period until he can be adopted or his fate determined. Staff members are hoping someone recognizes the dog and can help reunite him with his owners. Animal Control officers also would like to talk to the person who leashed him to the tree
.

"A contingent of Downtown Precinct patrol officers, Metro Crisis Intervention Team officers and Southside Emergency Services technicians involved the man in discussions and brought in a close friend of the subject to help convince him to accept help. He was transported by ambulance for evaluation," police say.
Police diverted traffic from the Oglethorpe Avenue entrance ramp and restricted U.S. 17 traffic to the far left lane to allow for the emergency vehicles and first responders.. Metro Marine Patrol officers and a SCMPD chaplain were en route when he agreed to step down from the side of the bridge.
Traffic reopened about 4:35 a.m.

He appears to have pulled a door open about 3:17 a.m., "entered the building, tossed the computer to the floor and broke the glass table where it had been placed and then left, pulling a fire alarm as he exited," police say.
Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call Crimestoppers at (912) 234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637) using the keyword CSTOP2020. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.

Included were a shooting Jan. 29 in Wells Park followed by shots fired the next day in Thomas Park "in which a library building was struck; shots fired in the Cuyler Brownsville area Thursday afternoon in which juveniles were detained; and a shots fired Thursday night in which three suspects were charged," police say.
Metro Violent Crimes detectives have charged Joshua Tamil Myers with aggravated assault in the shooting of a 28-year-old man on the basketball court of Wells Park on Jan 29 and the attempted shooting in Thomas Park beside the Bull Street Library the following day.
He also has been charged with fleeing to elude police in another incident. Potential charges in additional incidents are being investigated.
Detectives identified Myers as the driver of a stolen blue Ford Fusion from which shots were fired at the same person on the two successive days. The shooter has not yet been identified.
"The victim of the Wells Park shooting, Kelvin Frazier, was not the intended target," police say. "He received non-life-threatening injuries. No one was injured in the second shooting in which rounds struck the Bull Street Library."
The Fusion was located later without wheels.
Myers was arrested Wednesday by Richmond Hill police for theft by shoplifting and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is expected to be served with Metro’s warrants today in the Bryan County jail.
Violent Crimes Detectives also charged a 16-year-old male with theft by receiving a stolen vehicle, possession of a firearm by one younger than 18 and reckless conduct Thursday afternoon.
Central Precinct officers on patrol heard shots fired near West 41st and Stevens streets at 1:47 p.m. and found "a bicycle in the street, a male fleeing on foot and a car speeding away. As they began to investigate, more shots were heard from a block away and responding officers stopped a stolen Honda Civic with three juveniles in it," police say.
The driver of the vehicle wore a holster on his belt. "A handgun was found in the lane in which the car had been stopped. Officers later discovered the police car that first responded to the incident had a flat tire but determined the damage was not from a bullet," police say.
Details of the initial incident to which the officers had responded are still being investigated.
An off-duty officer, Islands Precinct Patrol officers and officers on a special assignment converged to stop a vehicle at East Gwinnett Street and Pennsylvania Avenue at 7:47 p.m. Thursday and arrest two of the three occupants.
The off-duty officer heard shots in his neighborhood near Betty and Emory drives in the Magnolia Park area and reported a silver Suzuki speeding away. An officer located the Suzuki driving north on Skidaway Drive and stopped it when other officers had saturated the area.
Marquis Demario Wallace, 22, of the 2800 block of Capitol Street, was located by other officers several blocks away after he exited the Suzuki and ran. A handgun with an extended magazine was found in a lane he was seen exiting. He has been charged with obstruction, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and tampering with evidence.
Another occupant of the car, Calvin Christopher Brown, 28, of the 1800 block of Hale Street, was held on outstanding warrants for false statements and obtaining controlled substances. A Metro canine alerted on the car and a bag with two other weapons, including a machine pistol with extended magazine, were found in the vehicle.
Violent Crimes detectives also are trying to identify a white Nissan sedan with a sunroof from which shots were fired on East 37th Street Tuesday night. The incident was recorded on video showing a male firing at another vehicle from the passenger window, but no reports of rounds striking anything or anyone were received.

One man is in custody following an operation conducted by the Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team (CNT).
"Late yesterday evening, CNT agents, with the assistance of the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit, arrested 27-year-old Thomas “White Boy” Holland of Savannah," according to a CNT spokesperson.
"Holland was arrested at an apartment complex located in the 7200 block of Skidaway Road. He was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Heroin) with Intent to Distribute. The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office also served Holland with an outstanding warrant for Probation Violation: Original Offense(s) Sex Offender Registry Violation, False Statements. Also seized during the operation was more than $1,200 in cash and one vehicle."
The investigation into Holland began earlier this month "after CNT received information he was selling large amounts of heroin. Over the course of the operation, undercover agents purchased heroin from Holland. The investigation revealed he was supplying numerous people with heroin throughout Chatham County," CNT says.
Holland remains at the Chatham County Detention Center following an arraignment hearing in the Recorder’s Court of Chatham County, Georgia where he was denied bond.
The case into Holland and his associates is ongoing and "additional arrests are expected. Additional charges against Holland to include Sale of a Controlled Substance (Heroin) are forthcoming," CNT says.
The seized heroin has an estimated street value of more than $1,000.

The Publix Savannah Women’s Half Marathon & 5K will take place this Saturday, March 28, resulting in road closures. "More than 2,300 people will participate in this inaugural race event," according to a spokesperson.

Roads will be closed starting at 7:30 a.m., with the majority of the 5K route reopening by 8:30 a.m.
The half marathon route will temporarily close Victory Drive between 8-10:30 a.m. Detours will be at Abercorn and Bee Roads. The Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department will assist with the event, allowing cars to safely cross the course at major intersections.
The race weekend will begin with a New Balance Fashion Fitness Expo at the Savannah Hilton DeSoto from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., on Friday, March 27. The half marathon and 5K races start at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, with the post-race party to be held in Forsyth Park.

A second suspect has been arrested in the Nov. 15, 2014, shooting death of a Savannah Man in the Hudson Hill area of west Savannah and a third is still being sought.
William Darnell Davis, 21, "was arrested by Peach County authorities over the weekend on a warrant taken by Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department violent crimes detectives. He is being interviewed by Metro detectives today and the process to return him to Savannah has begun," a police spokesperson says.
One woman, Taylor Lavon LaCount, 21, was arrested in December and a second woman, Trinika Latrell Beamon, is still being sought in the shooting death of T’arsha Williams on Hudson Street in the early morning hours of Nov. 15. Warrants have been taken against all three charging them with felony murder and two counts each of aggravated assault and armed robbery.
"They are accused of luring T’arsha Williams to Hudson Street near West Lathrop Avenue where he was shot during a robbery attempt about 3:30 a.m. Williams was found deceased in a gray Pontiac that had rolled into a building," police say.
Beamon and is a black female, about 5-foot-6, 135 pounds with long hair that sometimes is worn in a twist with shaved sides. She is considered armed and dangerous. Metro detectives suggest anyone who is aware of her location not approach her but call Emergency 911 or CrimeStoppers, immediately.
