Savannah’s Fashion Night has announced their donation of $2,500 to Art Rise Savannah "as a part of their collaboration for the 2014 Savannah’s Fashion Night. The announcement comes after the 2014 event wrapped up its most successful year to date, drawing a record breaking amount of participants for the annual event," a spokesperson for SFO says.

Clinton Edminster, executive director of Art Rise Savannah and coordinator of their event on Fashion’s Night stated, "We can't thank the Savannah Fashion Night Committee enough for this incredible donation and for the opportunity to work with some of Savannah's finest designers, models, and photographers. The collaborative potential this city contains is a force to be reckoned with. The relationships we were able to build during the 2014 event will only be compounded in coming years for even greater impact on the community."

Savannah Fashion’s Night is an annual event that takes place along Broughton Street where the majority of the street is shut down for a pedestrian friendly evening. Each year over 30 retailers participate in the one night event of shopping and entertainment.

“We were thrilled to work with Art Rise for this event” said Co-Founders Bree Thomas and Erin Wessling. “Their commitment and dedication to helping, nurturing and showcasing some of Savannah’s finest artists mirrored our own desire to showcase the amazing talent and businesses we have in the city.”

The donation also comes on the announcement that Savannah’s Fashion Night is postponing plans for the 2015 year in order to solicit outside investors in hopes of creating a larger and more supported event. Plans for further Savannah Fashion Night’s will be announced later in 2015.

Police seek the public’s help in locating “two males who appeared to randomly attack pedestrians in two incidents Sunday" March 8.

In the first incident, two Jersey City, NJ, men were walking at East Congress and Habersham streets about 7:13 p.m. when the car (possibly a Cadillac DeVille) stopped beside them; “the passenger exited and punched a 35-year-old victim several times in the face.” Witnesses confirmed the report.

At 8 p.m., a 21-year-old woman attending college in Savannah reported “she was walking with a male when the car stopped near them and she was punched and knocked down by the passenger,” who is described as a black male, about 6 ft. with a slender to medium body style, short hair and light complexion.

At least two other similar incidents have happened since then.

On the evening of Monday, March 9, police report an attempted armed robbery at 11 West Liberty Street at 10:16 p.m. The report indicates the victim walked to his car and got in. A black male tapped on his window with a gun. The victim pulled out a gun and the suspect fled the scene. The suspect is described as having short dreads, khaki pants and a camouflage print jacket.

On Tuesday  March 10 at 3:19 p.m., police say a victim was walking north on Bull Street near Jones Street when he was reportedly punched from behind and his cell phone was snatched.

The victim said the suspect ran; he chased the suspect to the area of Bull Street near Gordon Street, at which point the suspect entered a vehicle and sped off.

The suspect was described as a black male, slender build, between the age of 20-30 years old. The suspect was observed leaving the scene in a black, 4-door, SUV.

Police have filed felony charges against a Florida woman "who misrepresented circumstances that led up to a fight that left her companion with injuries on Feb. 2," police say.

Angel Little, 36, of Riverview, FL., will be charged with filing a false police report after she and her companion, Corey Walters, 38, became involved in a fight on Bay Street near Bull Street after 2 a.m.

"She initially told Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police the couple had been attacked, beaten, kicked in the head and face and robbed by five to six males who left in a maroon sports sedan," police say. "But a video obtained after a search warrant was served on a nearby business refutes most of the couples’ account of what started the conflict as well as their participation."

The video indicates that Walters, 38, "instigated the confrontation that required his medical treatment. Walters was shown walking away and returning to confront two men standing on the sidewalk several times," police say.

The confrontation increased after Little walked up with her dog. "The video showed she attempted to get between the men as her boyfriend struck one of them," police say.

Other men, possibly those first identified as the assailants, approached to break up or join in the affray that crossed Bay Street several times before Walters was left lying on the sidewalk.

Robbery detectives continue to seek witnesses and the group of males to sort out discrepancies. They are described as being in their early 20s, clean shaven with short, groomed haircuts. They also are trying to identify the two men who were initially confronted by Walters.
