Film: Sherlock Holmes

Only recently rediscovered after decades of being completely lost, this incredibly rare, restored print of the very first feature film ever made about the famous British detective is considered one of the most important and historic portrayals of Sherlock Holmes. Essentially a filmed adaptation of the popular stage play written by and starring William Gillette, who portrayed Holmes for over 1,300 live performances around the world before English actor Basil Rathbone gained fame in the role onscreen.
