Jody Patterson is a Citizen Scientist, Interpretive Educator, and Volunteer Coordinator for Gray's Reef National Marine Sanctuary. Her unique take on ocean conditions as they relate to social dilemmas within our society highlights the misconceptions many might have about water pollution. She believes that our society has cultivated a culture of disconnection with nature. The biggest challenge then, is shifting the way people think. Water pollution isn’t an insurmountable problem, and self-awareness is the first step to solving it.
